They implied that, had it been used, it would have been the helicopter that attempted to move Sam Witwicky and the AllSpark out of Mission City.

According to the running commentary of the 2007 movie done by Aaron Archer and Jared Wade at BotCon 2008, Hasbro's creation of Evac was prompted by the (ultimately unused) idea that there would be at least one Coast Guard helicopter featured in the film.He uses the same parts layout as Blackout, Vortex and Whirl. More information on Deluxe Evac at TFU.infoĪ 29-point "rare" character in the 3D Battle-Card Game, Evac "transforms" into a yellow helicopter. This sculpt was also used to make 2010 Transformers Tailwhip and 2014 Transformers Protectobot Blades. Presumably, his color and name were changed because there had already been three red-and-white Blades-themed 'copter redecoes going by that name in the previous year or so. He even sports "C-72" tampographed on his side the original Blades's Japanese ID number.

In robot mode, the top rotor can be used as a spinning weapon, or split in half to sit on both arms.Įvac's color layout appears to have been inspired by Generation 1 Blades, only with orange in place of Blades's traditional red. The top propeller can be spun using a gear-driven action by pressing the small button just under it. Accessories: Two-part rotor/spinning combat bladeįrom the final -and barely-distributed- wave of Revenge of the Fallen Deluxes, Evac is a redeco of Blazemaster, transforming into a HH-65 Dolphin helicopter in Coast Guard rescue deco.More information on Voyager Evac at TFU.info.This means that the pieces have to be flexed past eachother, which can often result in the mushroom-pins/hinges to be stripped from their sockets, leading to incredibly loose shoulder joints or in the worst case, they'll be torn off completely.Įvac was later redecoed for in the Toys"R"Us- exclusive "Masters of Metallikato" battle pack as Whirl, for the Revenge of the Fallen toyline, and the original Blackout tooling was reused for Grindor. Unfortunately, this mold's most major design flaw resides in the shoulders there is not enough clearance for them to move past the cockpit assembly due to the tabs catching on the inner molded details. Failing to do so is sure to misalign your Evac to bejeezus. Swinging the legs down locks the back assembly into place for robot mode, but simply swinging the legs back does not unlock it, with the user being required to actively separate the parts by hand. Getting the gears back into alignment is a veritable nightmare, as so many other parts shift and move as you attempt to manipulate the respective pieces. It is very easy for the gears in the cockpit/chest to become misaligned during transformation, enough so that the chest/head section refuses to align with the cockpit halves. The figure's retooling involved a new head and new hands that can hold standard weapon pegs such as the raft which replaced the Scorponok miniature. Another, less impressive Automorph is in his legs-If you pull his knees down, his shin armor pops out a bit. Thus, pressing the button on Evac's tail not only rotates his blades, but also rotates Scorponok's pincers, though this gimmick is actually easier to activate by rotating the geared wheel on Scorponok's undercarriage.ĭuring transformation, Evac's Automorphing gimmick is activated when the user swings down his legs, which in turn flips the chest section his head is mounted upon up and into position. A geared shaft linked to the rotor mechanism connects to a geared peg on Scorponok's back. A button on the very end of his tail can be pressed in a geared action to rotate his rotor blades, but this feature really comes into play when the user attaches the Deluxe-class Scorponok figure to the bottom of Evac's helicopter mode via two pegs. An aft "cage" compartment can be opened to release a small rescue raft, which becomes a hand-held gun for robot mode. As part of the " AllSpark Power" portion of the movie line, Evac is a retool of the Voyager Blackout, transforming into a Sikorsky MH-53 Pave Low heavy-lift helicopter in rescue helicopter colors.
